The opportunity - What future are you building towards?

Are you looking for a place where you can realise your international ambitions? We offer you a platform to work with the largest and most diverse international clients in the world. A place full of career and growth opportunities! Will you grow with us?

At the moment, we are particularly looking for reinforcements for our Asia-focused Indirect Tax practice. We have seen our activities for Asian clients (inbound and outbound) grow significantly in recent years, especially in the area of indirect taxes. For this, we are looking for a Consultant or Senior Consultant (with a few years of relevant experience) who will be part of our Indirect Tax team in Amsterdam.

Our team - Do great minds always think alike?

Within the Indirect Tax department, we advise clients on both national and international VAT legislation, customs duties, environmental taxes and transfer taxes. Our goal is to solve complex problems, often spanning several countries, by collaborating with our colleagues worldwide. Our clients are multinationals, large enterprises, family businesses, governments, and non-profit organisations.

As a (Senior) Consultant Indirect Tax Amsterdam, you will work in our international VAT practice. You will join a team of about 50 colleagues, consisting of partners, (senior) managers, (senior) consultants, interns and working students, and you will be part of the larger Indirect Tax Netherlands team.

Within the practice, we provide specialized tax advice, represent clients with the Tax Authorities and in tax procedures, take care of filings, offer courses, and support and guide everything related to Tax Control. In addition, we are very active in the field of Tax Technology.

The office

Our office in Amsterdam is located on the Zuidas: a bustling area where many companies are based. As many as 1000 people are welcomed daily in our Cross Towers. Haven't had breakfast yet? Then a special smoothie will be made for you or simply a delicious cappuccino. During lunchtime, the team is ready to serve you a fresh lunch. For a breathtaking view of Amsterdam, head to the 22nd floor. Collaboration takes on a new meaning through the Wavespace. This high-tech environment brings together clients and colleagues virtually worldwide!

Responsibilities

  • You are capable of working independently and are the first point of contact for a number of clients.
  • You collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and colleagues from abroad and delegate tasks to the consultants in our team.
  • You consistently delve into tax law, regulations, and jurisprudence, keeping you informed of the latest developments to proactively approach our clients and to be able to prepare and provide high-quality advice.

As an individual, you already have a sense for a practical approach in advising, with a solid technical foundation. From that perspective, you devise solutions and discuss decisions about follow-up actions with your colleagues. You work together with other consultants, but also with managers, senior managers, and partners to jointly achieve the desired result.

Job requirements

  • A completed Master's degree in Tax Law or Tax Economics.
  • About 3 years of experience as a VAT specialist.
  • You can express yourself fluently in both Dutch and English, orally and in writing.
  • A completed NOB training or the willingness to obtain it with us.

Equal opportunities

At EY, we believe in the power of diversity and inclusion. Our belief is that the unique perspectives and experiences of each individual make our team stronger and more innovative. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of age, gender, race, background, sexuality, or any other characteristic that makes you unique.
