Legal Team IPP is looking for an enthusiastic and pragmatic lawyer who can look ahead, is eager to learn, and has a flexible and curious attitude.

Are you interested in the dynamic world of IT, IP, procurement & outsourcing, Corporate Real estate (for own use) and the impact of technological developments? Do you want to join a team working on (IT) procurement contracts, outsourcing, implementation of regulations and (international) deals with large corporates? Can you advise succinctly and are you commercially oriented, pragmatic and a team player with a sense of humor? And do you like your working days to be different each day? Then we are looking for you!

The team

We are the Legal team supporting IT, procurement, Corporate Real Estate, ING Hubs and intellectual property matters consisting of 9 lawyers. The team is part of the larger General Legal Affairs (approximately 35 lawyers) advising our stakeholders on a number of corporate topics such as KYC/AML, market abuse, competition law, regulatory affairs, internal investigations, procurement contracts, IP and IT law, privacy etc. . We have a strong passion for the legal profession and support our internal clients with product development, transactions and incidents. We participate in legal committees of (international) banking consultative bodies. In addition, we translate new laws and regulations into practice and our department is a legal center of expertise for our legal colleagues in other jurisdictions in which ING operates.

As strategic partner in business we are in constant dialogue with our commercial colleagues and with each other. We work together closely, debating with and challenging colleagues and sharing knowledge with each other by both informal and formal means. In this way we can benefit as much as possible from shared knowledge and experience, lessons learned and best practices. We share our expertise and knowledge in respect of new developments as broadly through the ING network as possible.

We believe that it is important that our business is up to date with the legal ins-and-outs of the products with which they work. We keep them up to date with all the latest developments through quarterly newsletters, one on one meetings, learn and lunch sessions etc. We also offer internal clients a comprehensive training package with e-learnings, webcasts and classroom sessions. Therefore, presentation skills are also important.

Role and responsibilities

  • You support procurement, intragroup contracting and IT projects for ING and thereby advise on and draft, review and negotiate complex (international) contracts;
  • You proactively analyze market developments and new legislation and regulations and translate these into practical legal guidance and advice with impact analyses;
  • Through your work you have a broad view of ING's activities in all its facets, with a strong focus on the further development of ING as a digital bank. This means that you will deal with legal aspects related to technology, outsourcing, privacy-aspects, data, open source, intellectual property law and  ING Hubs and elements of financial supervision.
  • You collaborate with a broad set of stakeholders within the bank on the areas mentioned above;
  • You share and lay down knowledge, contribute to the drafting of bank policies and provide training for internal clients
  • Together with the team, you contribute to the development and management contract templates and internal guidance on relevant issues for the business and you guide them in their use.
  • You contribute to internal risk analyses, closely monitor legal and technical developments, and you are alert to changes in legislation that you translate into practical instructions for ING.
  • You advise (orally and in writing) to a significant extent in English.

This vacancy concerns a so-called sensitive position. A safety investigation is required to perform this function. This screening is performed by the Corporate Security and Investigations (CSI) department and must have a positive outcome. Without this positive outcome, appointment to this position cannot take place.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

You have at least 3-6 years of relevant work experience in the field of (procurement) contracts, preferably also in IT contracting, privacy, and intellectual property with a degree in Dutch law. You have a strong affinity with innovation, thinking differently, technology and operations, always from the legal point of view. You have a good command of the English language (spoken and written) and a sharp eye for details. In addition, you are used to working in a team and able to take a position without getting bogged down in detail or losing sight of the bigger picture. You are also able to plan your own work and to effectively manage the expectations of your internal customers.

In addition, you recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • Client-focused and pragmatic, curious and able to think ‘out of the box’
  • Able to separate main and side issues
  • Innovative, creative and solution-oriented
  • Independent, critical and strong analytical skills
